Origin of the exhibition

Tamsui is located in a distinguishing geographic setting and richly endowed with cultural heritage. The refinement of humanities cultivation and tourism features developed throughout the years have made Tamsui the best tourist destination. To improve travel quality and show regard for the rights and needs of the public, the Tamsui Historical Museum has been devoted to upgrading its facilities and organizing events. The museum has made efforts to enhance the usability of barrier-free equipment while encouraging the mentally and physically challenged to take part in outdoor activities and experience the convenience of living in Tamsui.

"The 2011 Photography Contest for the Mentally and Physically Challenged" was the brainchild of this belief. Among the 184 pieces sent to the organizer, a collection of 36 award-winning photographs, including the top three prize-winners, select works and superior works, are on exhibition. Besides arousing the enthusiasm of all the participants, this exhibition aims to draw public attention to the needs of the differently abled, to regard for individual differences, and to a better understanding of the barrier-free environment.

Let us broaden our horizons and see a different Tamsui through the photographers' lenses.
